Syrah is a Mediterranean variety that finds ideal conditions to express itself at great levels in warm and dry environments. Sicily is probably one of the places in Italy with these characteristics, and Planeta wanted to vinify and bottle this grape variety in purity with such peculiar characteristics. At the beginning of September, the manual harvest takes place in crates that are transported to the winery for destemming and crushing (the bunches are destemmed and the berries are crushed) and then transferred to steel tanks for alcoholic fermentation with maceration, which will last about 12 days at 25°C. At the end of this process, the wine is separated from the skins and placed in Allier barriques, one-third of which are first-use, where it will remain for 14 months for aging. After this period, the blending and bottling take place. Pairings: Planeta Syrah is a structured and elegant wine, excellent paired with smoked cold cuts such as Speck from Alto Adige or traditional Calabrian cold cuts. Syrah, with its spices, is also excellent paired with dishes from oriental cuisine or with main courses based on red meat and game, even spicy and elaborate.
