The pure saffron "3Torri" is included in the list of traditional agri-food products of Umbria. It is cultivated on the border between Umbria and Tuscany, in the fraction of San Leo Bastia, a small town situated between the municipalities of Cortona and Città di Castello, in a valley dominated by three ancient watchtowers, from which the brand takes its name. This saffron is a completely natural product, obtained exclusively from the dried stigmas of saffron flowers. The harvesting takes place manually between October and November, in the early hours of the morning, when the flowers are still closed, protecting them from exposure to sunlight and from insects that could compromise the organoleptic properties of the stigmas. The stigmas, of purple-red color, are then gently separated from the flower and immediately dried at 40 °C, in order to best preserve their aroma and characteristics. Traditionally, saffron is attributed therapeutic and aphrodisiac properties. Thanks to its fluidifying effect, it improves blood and fluid circulation. Since ancient times, it was also used in the preparation of anti-inflammatory and healing ointments.
