The purest saffron "3Torri" is included in the list of traditional agri-food products of Umbria. It is cultivated on the border between Umbria and Tuscany, in the hamlet of San Leo Bastia, a small village located between the municipalities of Cortona and Città di Castello, in a valley dominated by three ancient watchtowers, from which the brand takes its name. This saffron is a completely natural product, obtained exclusively from the dried stigmas of saffron flowers. Harvesting is done manually between October and November, in the early hours of the morning, when the flowers are still closed, protecting them from exposure to sunlight and insects that could compromise the organoleptic properties of the stigmas. The stigmas, of a deep red-purple color, are then gently separated from the flower and immediately dried at 40 °C, to best preserve their aroma and characteristics. Traditionally, saffron is attributed with therapeutic and aphrodisiac properties. Thanks to its thinning effect, it improves the circulation of blood and fluids. Since ancient times, it has also been used in the preparation of anti-inflammatory and healing ointments.
