The Green Pistachio of Bronte (in Sicilian it is called frastuca, while the plant is called frastucara) is a variety of pistachio with Protected Designation of Origin D.O.P. The pistachio of Bronte is also a Slow Food presidium. The cultivation and production of pistachios represent an important source of income for Bronte, a town in the province of Catania at the foot of Mount Etna, so much so that it is nicknamed the Green Gold for its high commercial value.
